I brought my son here so he could get the small town coffee experience I've always loved to endulge in with family and friends. My cousin and Mom have been regulars for the almost two yrs that I've lived in this little town and have never been treated as bad as we were today. We will NOT be back. They were busy, Carol had a cast on her foot so i felt bad for her but i asked for vanilla creamer for my coffee, which is me and my mom's fave and she put out a small handful. Mind you, i use 2 per cup and when we buy a cup you get one refill free (which is one of the reasons we come here). By the time my mom, who ordered separately got her coffee she had to ask for more creamers. Then about 40 min later i went up for my free refill with my son since we were boxed in at the table and waited till some of our group left so we could get out/in easier. There was literally 3 pkts of sugar and no vanilla creamers left. I had saved one creamer from when i first asked since she put so few out and decided to just use the one. I gave 1 sugar to my son and had 2 in my coffee but really needed more and he used the last 2 sugar substitutes so there was nothing left. I mean it was bare..no sweeteners of any kind whatsoever. My cousin decided to order her first cup of coffee after that and since nothing was there decided to put some up since she knew where they kept it. The female worker went to the restroom and when she saw my cousin when she came back filling the stuff up she told my cousin, don't do that. That there is only so much they put out for the day and it was already filled today. My cousin said she was sorry she was just trying to help as the whole thing was empty and the employee continued to argue that she should just tell her if they are out. My cousin said she was in the bathroom and she was just trying to help then walked back to our table. As we were discussing this amongst ourselves that we were done, i wanted to show my son how nice and charming the place was but now was embarrassed i even brought him and that i would never come back and my cousin said she was thinking the same thing, the employee came back up to us and was saying she wasn't trying to be rude they just already filled it for the day. At this point i was extremely upset because she wouldn't let us be in peace and was still getting on my cousin for restocking the area when she should've thanked her for doing her job. I told her i had to put less sugar in my coffee because there wasn't enough, there was nothing up there. Then she started arguing with me. I said,you know what, never mind, we were regular customers but we won't be back her again and we all got up and left. She just walked away fine with us leaving. As i walked away there was one lady sitting in the dining room that had helped Carol earlier. .i said to my cousin, i have never been here and been treated so bad, ever, but i will never be back. 11 yrs ago i worked as a manager at Taco Bell and had worked there for 13 yrs. If i hadn't been able to fill the sauces and a customer refilled it for me, i would've said thank you and kindly let them know to they could let me know next time and i could do it for them but show them i appreciate them for doing what i know is my job. I wouldn't reprimand them and make them feel bad. .i want them to come back. Their business is why i get paid. So now they just last not only my business but the business of the 4 other people who were with us. There is enough ugliness in the world, there is no need to be ugly to one another let alone your paying customers.
Sweet cafe on main Street in Archbold. Fun place to meet for coffee and breakfast. Only open until 2pm though...
